About Appointments
How do I Make an Appointment?
Students can set up appointments with tutors at least 24 hours in advance by using our online scheduler:
1. Online scheduling works best with Firefox.
2. Go to Tutor Trac at <https://www.academicsupport.gatech.edu>.
3. Please disregard the message about the security certificate. This site can be trusted.
4. Choose “Communication Center” from the menu.
5. Select a time.
Students can also set up appointments by calling the Communication Center at 404.385.3612 or by stopping by the front desk in Clough Commons, Suite 447.
Can I drop in without an appointment?
Absolutely. We welcome drop in visits any time. If there are tutors available, we can work with you right away. If there are scheduled appointments ahead of you, you may need to wait until a tutor is available.
How do I cancel an appointment?
If students need to cancel an appointment, they must do so on Tutor Trac at least 24 hours before their appointment is scheduled to start. If you need to cancel an appointment less than 24 hours in advance, you should contact the Communication Center at 404.385.3612 or stop by the front desk in Clough Commons, Suite 447. On occasion, we will cancel sessions due to frequent cancellations or tardiness by students, requests of tutors, or other extenuating circumstances.
Can I come in more than once per day? Or once per week?
No, we ask that you visit only once per week. In select cases, however, a second visit may be necessary. Consult with your tutor.
What do I need to bring to a session?
- Assignment sheets
- Printout of paper/poster
- Notetaking materials
How long are the sessions?
Tutoring sessions are 30 minutes each.
About Tutoring
Who can be tutored at the CommLab?
All tutoring sessions are for undergraduate and graduate students only. No sessions are currently offered for faculty, staff, or post-docs.
Can my teacher be my tutor?
Unfortunately, you cannot reserve to be tutored by your class instructor. Other tutors will be available for you. You should speak to your instructor about visiting him or her during office hours.
Is there a charge for tutoring?
No, tutoring sessions are free of charge.
Hours and Location
When are you open?
We are open 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Monday; 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday; and 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. We are closed on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays.
Can I use the bean bags just to hang out and work?
If you have an appointment, are waiting for a tutor, or want to finish up some work after a tutoring session, you are more than welcome to hang out in the CommLab.
Can I use the work spaces that are just outside the CommLab?
Yes, those spaces (breakout rooms and rehearsal rooms) are for your use. We do not reserve them, however. You will need to reserve them on your own by visiting https://www.gtevents.gatech.edu/VirtualEms/Login.aspx
